How to Be a Night Security Guard at a Morgue

Become a commissioned security officer by taking your state's training course---these courses are typically eight hours in length. Although not all morgues require that their guards be commissioned, having this certification will offer you more job opportunities.

Get experience working as a nighttime security guard. Types of businesses that need night guards include technology firms, call centers, strip clubs and nightclubs. This experience will be used to build your resume.

Apply to work as a guard at the morgues in your area. You can find job listings on their websites, through job and resume search engines, the newspaper, and sites such as Craig's List. Alternatively, you can send a resume and cover letter to the morgues, even if they are not hiring, so they can contact you when a position becomes available.

Be prepared for your interview by researching the position you want, and take the company's required tests. You will likely undergo a background check and drug testing. Some companies also require their guards to take psychological tests and polygraphs.

Tips & Warnings
You need to be at least 21 to be a security guard for most morgues, and others require their guards to be at least 25. Having a two- or four-year degree in criminal justice or a related field will open up more opportunities for career advancement.
