To make printable Easter craft worksheets, utilize the drawing functions of word-processing software like Microsoft Word. The pre-set shapes are customizable so you can create the basic outline of an Easter egg, re-size it and add decorative details. Print this off in black and white as a versatile craft worksheet that can be used for coloring, painting and gluing activities, or as a template for other types of crafts like appliqué.

    Printable Easter Eggs

  1. Step 1

Open a new blank document in Microsoft Word.

  2. Step 2

Left-click on "Insert" at the top left of the page, hold the cursor over "Picture...," and then left-click on "AutoShapes." The AutoShapes palette will appear on the page.

  3. Step 3

Click on the icon featuring a little triangle, heart and square. A list of shapes will appear. Click on the oval shape.

  4. Step 4

Left-click at any point on the page and hold the button down. Move the cursor in any direction over the page and you will see an oval shape appear; it will change in size and shape as you move the mouse. Release the left-click.

  5. Step 5

Left-click, hold and drag at the little circular points around the edges of the oval shape to change the size and shape of the oval. Experiment with this technique until you have a large egg shape.

  6. Step 6

Left-click on the top left "Lines" icon in the AutoShapes palette. Click on the "Line," "Freeform," "Scribble" and "Curve" icons and experiment with these tools to embellish the egg with any design of your choosing. If you make a mistake or are unhappy with the design, just click on the shape you drew and hit the delete button on the keyboard.

  7. Step 7

When you are happy with the egg design, save the document and print it. Use the print-out as a template for appliqué, or decorate the page with paints, colored pencils and/or glitter.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you print the template onto thin card stock you can decorate it, cut the egg out and hang it from a ribbon as an ornament. If you leave the Easter egg template fairly plain it leaves more room for embellishment as part of the final craft project. If you make a smaller egg you can copy and paste several of them on one page.
