Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- AutoCAD program
- Internet
-
Step 1
Begin by researching colleges and tech schools that offer AutoCAD Drafting courses. Many schools offer 2 year courses in this field. Call and ask if they only teach architectural drafting or if they offer other fields, such as mechanical or electrical classes.
-
Step 2
Buy a How-To book on the latest release of AutoCAD. Some books will have a trial offer disc that you can run on your personal computer for 30 days to practice with. Go chapter by chapter and learn the basics first before trying the more complicated features of the program.
-
Step 3
Search the internet for AutoCAD user groups. There are many websites that have articles on tips and tricks to cut down on your learning curve. You can also go to Autodesk's website and look through their blogs and user groups. There is a wealth of information to be found there.
-
Step 4
Look for Autodesk resellers. They often offer classes for beginners on the use of AutoCAD for people that are just beginning to learn AutoCAD drafting.
