Is there anything more disgusting than a clogged up toilet? Unfortunately most everyone has at one time or another experienced plumbing problems, and a clogged toilet ranks up there as one of the worst.

But before you call the plumber this article has a few things that you can do to easily unclog a toilet and save a little on your plumbing repair.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First, try using some dish liquid. Just pour a cup of dish soap into the clogged toilet and let it set for about one hour. And then flush, this works great for toilets that have been clogged with toilet paper. Many times this is all that you will need to solve your plumbing problems.

  2. Step 2

Next,If after an hour the toilet is still plugged try pouring in another cup of dish liquid then wait 10-15 minutes and use the plunger. Usually this is all it takes to open the clog.

  3. Step 3

Finally, if the toilet is still clogged your next step will be to either call a plumber or to use an auger on the toilet. You can purchase an auger from your local hardware store for around 20-30 dollars. Be sure to follow the directions when using the auger and try to be careful otherwise you might crack the porcelain.

Tips & Warnings
  • Everyone should keep an auger on hand just in case of clogs. This is especially important in households with young children.
