Make Halloween come to life with a miniature Halloween scene. Use a real or carvable plastic pumpkin. Create a one-of-a-kind Halloween scene with miniature furniture, figurines and other special effects. Let your imagination go wild and design a scene from a Halloween movie or from your own Halloween experiences. Make one miniature scene or make several decorated pumpkins to give as gifts. Design your very own miniature Halloween scene and create a new Halloween tradition.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Real or plastic carvable pumpkin
  • Miniature furniture
  • Fabric scraps
  • Craft supplies
  • Craft knife
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Marker
  1. Step 1

Decide how you want your Halloween miniature scene to look. You may decide to create an indoor or outdoor scene.

  2. Step 2

Choose window placements and your cut-out opening carefully. You will want the cut-out opening to be large enough for visitors to see inside your pumpkin.

  3. Step 3

Consider adding an electric light to your miniature scene. You may decide to place it in the back of the pumpkin. You may decide to place furniture toward the front of the pumpkin to hide the light, or you may choose to place the light in the top of the pumpkin as a ceiling light.

  4. Step 4

Draw the windows and cut-out opening on your pumpkin.

  5. Step 5

Cut out the openings. If you choose to use a real pumpkin, empty out the seeds once you have cut out the main opening.

  6. Step 6

Smooth the edges of your pumpkin. You can age the carvable pumpkin edges by rubbing the edges with brown paint.

  7. Step 7

Create walls with paint or paper. Leftover wallpaper, scrapbooking paper or newspaper will all work with carvable pumpkins.

  8. Step 8

Think about either painting the floor or covering it with fabric, felt or a piece of vinyl floor covering. Painted cardboard would also create a realistic effect.

  9. Step 9

Attach curtains to the windows. Use small pieces of felt, fabric or lace. Leave the curtains open enough so your visitors can see into your miniature Halloween scene from other angles besides the main opening.

  10. Step 10

Design your Halloween scene. Use miniature furniture to create a realistic effect.

  11. Step 11

Make or purchase figurines to add to your miniature Halloween scene.

  12. Step 12

Add imitation spider webs, plastic spiders and other symbols of Halloween.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider creating an outdoor scene, such as a cemetery or a haunted house.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions when using an electric light.
