Turn ordinary canned green beans into a delicious, easy-to-prepare side dish that goes well with many entrees. This is really more of a cooking "trick" than a recipe since you could use any number of vegetables in this process, though green beans and potatoes is the classic Southern version. Things You'll Need

  • 1 can green beans
  • 1 beef bullion cube
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 3-quart or larger pot

Instructions

      Peel and cut the four potatoes into 1-inch cubes.

      Empty a can of green beans into the pot and add a beef bullion cube and the potatoes. Add enough water to cover the vegetables.

      Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. When it begins boiling, reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 30 to 45 minutes. Stir occasionally to keep the vegetables from sticking.

      Remove the pot from the heat but do not drain the vegetables. This dish is best served straight from the seasoned water in the pot.
