How to Pour a concrete footing

Things You'll Need:

  • Concrete
  • Tape Measurr
  • Level
  • Digging tools
  • Concrete tools.
  1. Step 1

    The first step before you get started is to find out what the frost line is for your area which could be different if you are in colder or warmer areas. Typically they are around 3 feet and you are going to want to make sure you dig your hole at least this deep to avoid frost raising your foundation.

  2. Step 2

    Determine the width of the whole you are digging so that you can know how much footing will be poured. Typically it will be a couple or few inches past they actual wall you are building.

  3. Step 3

    Dig the hole.* Nest before you poor the concrete you are going to want to find a transit to find out the level at which you need to pour at and dig accordingly.

  4. Step 4

    * Next you are going to want to put rebar in the ground for support and we usually do this every three feet or so. Now you are ready to pour the concrete. Have an elevation line for this so you don't underpour or overpour which could cause a huge problem in the future.
    * You now will now level and smooth out the concrete you have poured and your on your way.
