When it comes to the world of online dating, your profile is everything. It is the thing that will attract the attention of possible suitors. Your online dating profile is the way that you sell yourself, so to speak, to the many people who are out on the Internet looking for love. The problem is that there are so many dating profiles out there that it can sometimes seem impossible to make yourself stand out. If you do not want your dating profile to get lost in a sea of fellow singles then you are going to need to take some steps to put your best foot forward in your online dating profile.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a profile picture that is perfect to highlight you. This is going to be the thumbnail shot that comes up when someone is searching through the online dating profiles that are on the site. You will want this to be a picture of you by yourself and facing the camera. The best possible shot to use for your online dating profile picture will be of you from just below the shoulders up. Think something like your passport or driver license's photo just done better.

  2. Step 2

Add another 3 to 4 pictures to your online dating profile. Now these shots can be of you enjoying some of your favorite activities. It is a good idea to include a picture that includes a head to toe shot of you. This way there is no confusion of how good you look and you will know that the person is truly interested in you. Do not use any pictures of just items you own or pets. People are looking to date another person not the items that they own.

  3. Step 3

  4. Step 4

Write an about you portion of your profile that will highlight your interests and what makes you unique. If you are into a sport or have a love of traveling, these are the things that you need to write about. The more specific you are about what you like and your interests the more people that you will meet that share these interests.

  5. Step 5

Create an online dating profile headline that will attract attention. As you think of one line that will make someone more interested in getting to know you, stay away from any of the cheesy lines about being lonely or lost. You want to seem full of energy and ready to go with that special someone. This is your one chance to create a spark as someone looks at your profile picture. Make these words count for everything.
