Step 1
Make a “candy roll” package. Place a small gift inside an empty toilet tissue or paper towel roll. Cut a piece of wrapping paper to be at least 4-6 inches longer than the roll. Wrap the paper around the roll and secure with tape. Twist the paper at the ends and secure with wrapping ribbons.

Step 2
You can find patterns online for decorative boxes. Print out the patterns and use them to make your own unique gift packaging.
-
Step 3
Make a “layered” box. This presentation is particularly good for small items that are very special to the recipient. Place the gift in the smallest box possible. Place that box inside a larger box and fill the space with crumpled paper or packing peanuts. Repeat the process as many times as you like. I once saw someone go 14 layers deep, with a refrigerator box as the largest package, and an engagement ring in the final box.

Step 4
Try the “trick” box. This can be a lot of fun. It’s all about using boxes that have nothing to do with the gift inside. You’ll have to save packaging, making sure to open it carefully so it can be resealed later to look like it’s straight from the store. Make sure you put something inside the box that is similar to the weight of the original contents to make it more believable. Try using things like cereal boxes, cigarette cartons, small appliance boxes and beer or liquor boxes. The more unlikely the package, the more fun it is to see what’s really inside.

Step 5
“Wrap” gifts in containers. This makes for interesting presentation, and also gives the gift of a storage unit. Try giving food gifts in a nice tin, or art supplies in a small storage unit.

Step 6
Just get creative! Try placing a small gift inside a rolled-up sock, and putting that into a shoe and give it to someone. Stuff a shirt with a gift that is padded with newspaper. The sky is the limit!
