Things You'll Need:
- Spaghetti of any size
- plate
- fork
- spoon
-
Step 1
Sit down with your plate of spaghetti. Put the fork in your dominant hand, and the spoon in the other.
-
Step 2
Poke the fork into the pasta, and pull up several strands. Don’t get too much, or you won’t be able to twirl it.
-
Step 3
Pull the fork up several inches to separate the strands from others on the plate.
-
Step 4
Place the spoon up against the tines of the fork, and begin twisting the fork, using the spoon to control the strands of pasta.
-
Step 5
Once the spaghetti has been fully twirled around the fork, pull back the spoon and eat from the fork.
-
Step 6
While using a spoon is perfectly acceptable, as you get better at twirling, you can learn to do without. Follow steps 1-3. Then, instead of using the spoon, move your fork over near the edge of the plate, and place the tines down onto the plate. Twirl as you would before. When the pasta is fully wrapped on the fork, tilt the handle down (which angles the tines away from the plate) then raise the fork to eat. The tilting of the fork is very important to keep the pasta from sliding straight down off the tines.
-
Step 7
Enjoy your pasta! Keep in mind that you may want to try this at home first, with plain pasta or while wearing a bib, to avoid sauce stains on your clothing, should the pasta flip or plop off the fork.
