Step 1
Reduce your shower time and never leave the water on while it's not in use. This also means to only wash a load of clothes when you have a full load. Always hang them to dry as much as possible. Use natural detergents that you can buy at Wal-Mart and grocery stores. It cleans just as well and smells great, and it's safer for the environment.

Step 2
Use mild soap such as Dial to clean most surfaces in your home. Mix a drop or two with warm water and scrub the area clean. Blot dry with dry towels. Always taking off your shoes when entering your home will keep carpets cleaner and mean less vacuuming. Sprinkling baking soda on your carpets will eliminate odors. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes, then vacuum. This is safer than harsh carpet cleaners.

Step 3
Use florescent light bulbs. They use less energy and will save you lots of money in the long run. Always turn off and unplug appliances not being used. Use fans and open windows instead of cranking up the air conditioning and in the winter put on a sweater and grab a blanket instead of turning up the heat.

Step 4
Always reuse and recycling anything you can.
