1
Decide where you want to live and what you want to do. Narrow your choices down to a few countries or a single continent. If you're hoping to learn a foreign language, you'll want to focus on countries that speak that language. Many countries offer English speakers work as English teachers. Nurses are also highly in demand, as are financial professionals. When researching positions, realize that some jobs are volunteer and you will not get paid.

2
Tailor your resume to the industry you want to work in. When writing your resume, emphasize how you have the skills to do the job for which you are applying. You may want to create different resumes for different industries.

3
Search online for jobs. Online job boards offer a convenient way for you to search for and apply to jobs online. Make a short list of jobs that interest you and for which you are qualified.
-
4
Submit your resume for positions that interest you. If you find the ad through a job board, you may be able to easily submit an application through that site. Alternatively, you can email, fax or mail your resume to the company. Be sure to write a cover letter that is specific to each company.

5
Brush up on your interview skills. Think about the types of questions that the company manager may ask you. Since the job is abroad, you may have to have only a phone interview. However, some companies have offices in America, too, so you may be able to do an in-person interview. Remember to dress well and explain why you are the right person for the job.

6
Apply for a working visa. Once you have been offered a position, you'll need to get a visa that allows you to live and work in the country. Your company will help you with this process. You will need to send the application to the nearest embassy of the country. Embassies are often in large cities, such as New York or San Francisco. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time before your trip.
