How to Make Cherry Wedding Heart Cookies
Cookies at a wedding are popular. Cookies work well as favors, desserts or table decorations. Cherry cookies are not common. The cookies are light brown with the cherries sprinkled through like chocolate chips. If you want red cookies, add a few drops of food coloring while mixing. To give the cookies as favors, put them in small bags on the tables. Cookies make a good alternative to cake for those who only want to eat something a little sweet.
Things You'll Need
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopped cherries
- Cookie sheet
- Cooking spray
- Cooling racks
- Rolling pin
- Powdered sugar
- Heart-shaped cookie cutter
- Mixing bowls
- Spoons
- Mixer

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Pit and chop the cherries. Fresh cherries work best, but canned cherries may be substituted.

Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in one bowl. Set the bowl aside. These are the dry ingredients.

Use a mixer to combine the butter, egg, milk and vanilla in another bowl. Beat until creamy. Add the dry ingredients to the mixture. Pour in the cherries and beat the mixture until well mixed.

Sprinkle a clean counter top with powdered sugar. Use the rolling pin to roll the cookie dough over the powdered sugar. If the dough is too sticky, put it in the refrigerator for a couple hours.

Spray the cookie sheets with the cooking spray. This is not necessary If using nonstick cookie sheets.

Use the heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Put the cutouts on the cookie sheet about an inch apart. Bake for around 10 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
Present the cookies by putting a stick through them right after they are done cooking. You can also put them in a tulle bag or use a baking cup.
