How to Clean a DLP Color Wheel

DLP color wheels need to be cleaned approximately every six months to a year, if the environment they are placed in is smokey, greasy or dusty. Sometimes, restaurant owners or places with high customer traffic will find that their TVs are experiencing picture degradation due to the smoke-filled rooms or greasy fumes from kitchens. There is no need to replace the color wheel but just to do a quick cleaning to save money on replacement parts. Even if you have your TV at home, your DLP color wheel may require a cleaning occasionally to provide clean picture quality.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read the owner's manual before making any attempt to dissemble your TV. Also, be aware that if your TV is under warranty, any self-repairs will negate your parts and labor agreement. If your TV is out of warranty or you do not want to spend time with sending your part off to the manufacturer, then do it yourself to save time and money.
