- Two 8-foot 1x10s

Instructions

1
Cut the 12-foot 2x10 into two 6-foot pieces. Cut the two 8-foot 1x10s into three pieces each that are 32 inches long. The 6-foot pieces will be the sides of your bookcase, and the 32-inch pieces will act as your top, bottom and shelves.
-
2
Sand down all of the edges of all the boards. If you want to paint or stain your wood, now is the time to do so.

-
3
Decide how much space you want between each shelf and mark it on both sides using a pencil. Using the drill, screw the "L" brackets into the sides, approximately 1-inch below your marks (so the top of the 1x10 will be even with the marks).
-
4
Screw the shelves to the top of the "L" brackets. The shelves will connect the two sides of the bookshelf together. Once the shelves are screwed in, screw the top and bottom of the bookshelf directly into the sidepieces.
-
5
Cut your plywood in a 6-foot x 3-foot rectangle and nail it to the back of the shelf unit.

Tips & Warnings
You may want to stain or paint your "L" brackets the same color as the bookshelf. This will help them blend in better.
Make sure you measure carefully, so you get the correct spacing for your shelves. Also, make sure your pieces have been cut to the correct length, or your shelves may not fit correctly
