HP Inkjet II printers produce crisp graphics on a variety of paper types and are one of the most popular printers available today. While these printers are very efficient on ink, they still at times will have a problem with the ink cartridge due either to a clog or a dried up cartridge. Luckily, the ink cartridges from HP Inkjet printers are easily cleaned and can be taken care of in a matter of minutes by anyone with a bit of technical knowledge.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Flip open the plastic tabs holding the rear cover of the printer in place and fold the cover down. Flip open the plastic tab holding the ink cartridge in place in the cartridge cradle and pull it out.

  2. Step 2

Moisten the cotton swabs with rubbing alcohol and turn the cartridge over to inspect the inkjets. Rub the jets with the moistened cotton swab to break up the dried ink and remove any clogs.

  3. Step 3

Press the plastic tab closed to hold the cartridge in place and close the back of the printer. Turn the printer on and wait for it to recognize the new cartridge. On the display screen, click "Clean" or go to Print properties on the computer and click on "Clean and Align." Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the cleaning of the HP Inkjet II.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can perform the cleaning process as many or as few times as you like, as the quality of your print jobs will only increase in quality the cleaner your printer gets.
