How to Record Streaming Music for Free

With the increasing popularity of high-definition streaming audio, it is possible that you will hear something that you would like to save. Since you don't have any control over Internet radio, using a program that you can open and record with quickly will make recording streaming audio more convenient. Free Sound Recorder is a free, small-in-size, easy-to-use program that offers a variety of recording and playback options.

Instructions

1. Launch Free Sound Recorder. Click the "General Settings" tab.

2. Select an Output Filetype (wav, mp3, or wma). Set the Recording View mode to "Normal". This will decrease the chance of skipping in your output file.

3. Choose an Output Directory. This is where finalized files will go after they are created. Click the "Output Format Settings" tab.

4. Select the MP3 tab and put a check next to Preset Quality. Use the slider to determine the quality of files you want to make. Sliding it to the far right will give you the best sounding file possible, however, the file size will be considerably larger. Click "OK".

5. Click the "Record" button on the main screen of the program. This will record any audio coming through your sound device.

6. Click the "Stop" button to end recording. The file will be saved in the Output Directory.
