Things You'll Need:
- White plastic headband at least one inch wide at the crown (if for a large dog) or sturdy white ribbon at least one inch wide and two feet long
- Tracing paper and pencil
- Two squares of white felt
- One square of pink felt
- Craft wire or steel picture-hanging wire
- Scissors
- Fabric glue
- A dog to model your creation
-
Step 1
Begin by drawing a bunny ear-shaped pattern on the tracing paper. Cut it out and trace four bunny ears on the two squares of white felt. Remember to make two "front" ears and two "back" ears.
-
Step 2
Draw a smaller bunny ear shape on tracing paper to represent the pink "interior" of a bunny's ear. Cut it out, draw two on the pink felt square, and cut each out of the felt. You will use two white shapes and one pink shape per bunny ear.
-
Step 3
Lay the two "back" bunny ears on a work surface. Measure a double length of steel wire for each ear. The wire will be glued down the middle of each ear so the ears stand upright as well as bend.
-
Step 4
Glue each piece of wire (bent in half lengthwise to fit within the borders of the white ear shape) to the felt. The two ends of each piece of wire should be flush with the bottom edge of the white felt ears.
-
Step 5
Glue the other two white ears (the "fronts") on to the "backs" with the wire in the middle of each felt piece.
-
Step 6
When the glue has dried on the white felt, glue the pink felt pieces to the white ears. You'll now have two complete ears.
-
Step 7
When all of the glue is completely dry, bend the bottom 3/4 inch of each ear backward at a right angle. This creates the surface that will anchor the ears to the headband or ribbon.
-
Step 8
Glue or staple (if using ribbon) the ears to the headpiece. The ears should be about an inch to three inches apart, depending on the size of the dog's head. Bend the ears into a natural-looking angle.
-
Step 9
Place the bunny ears on your dog and bask in the glow of compliments.
