Razor Burn is simply an irritation of the skin which results from shaving with a razor and is common in both men and women. Razor Burn looks like a mild rash and can last for a few hours or a few days depending on the seriousness of the burn.

Hopefully with a few simple tips you can avoid getting razor burn altogether.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • shaving cream
  • shaving gel
  • shaving techniques
  1. Step 1

The best time to shave is right after you shower or bathe. Your skin will be at it's softest.

  2. Step 2

Moisture is important in avoiding razor burn so make sure you apply shaving cream, a shaving foam or soap before you start to shave. Never try to shave dry skin.

  3. Step 3

Always remember to shave in the direction of the hair growth (which is usually downward). Never shave in the opposite direction as this will not only cause razor burn but also the possibility of getting an ingrown hair.

  4. Step 4

It's important to keep your razor blades sharp so replace them every week or more often if need be. Make sure to thoroughly rinse your razor after every use.

  5. Step 5

If you happen to notice razor burn and it's very uncomfortable just dissolve 2 uncoated aspirin in about a teaspoon of warm water and make a paste. Apply the paste to the area and leave on for a little while and then rinse in lukewarm water. This should lessen the burning sensation.

  6. Step 6

Another simple remedy for razor burn is to apply witch hazel or an aloe vera gel to the irritated razor burn.

Tips & Warnings
  • Vitamin C is good because it restores the skin quickly
  • Avoid razor burn by switching to an electric razor
