Is there anything more miserable than the throbbing pain of a toothache?

What is even worse is the fact that toothaches like to make an appearance on long weekends and holidays when it's hard to get to the dentist. Or maybe you're new in town and haven't had a chance to find a new dentist.

This article on how to get relief from a toothache will help with some much needed pain relief until you can get an appointment at the dentist office.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Take a pain killer. Ibuprofen works best for more severe pain, but if for some reason you can't take it then Tylenol can also be used.

  2. Step 2

    Apply an ice pack to the outside of the mouth while you are waiting for the pain killer to take effect. The cold from the ice will help to numb the nerves.

  3. Step 3

    Apply clove oil to the tooth and surrounding gums to help kill the infection and stop the pain. Clove oil is one essential oil that everyone should have in their medicine cabinet. One of the reasons that it works so well for toothaches is because clove oil is a natural antiseptic and germicide. So while it's relieving the pain of your toothache it's also getting rid of the infection which is causing the pain in the first place.

  4. Step 4

    Keep your dental appointment because even if you're feeling better now. The toothache will most likely return and may even get worse if left untreated.

Tips & Warnings
  • oil of oregano can also be used in place of the clove oil.
