Essential oils can be used to treat a low-grade fever, or a fever that does not respond to over the counter treatments. The most common way to use essential oils for fever is with a compress or cool bath.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose one of the following essential oils recommended for treating fever:

    Eucalyptus
    Peppermint
    Spearmint
    Rosemary
    Tea Tree
    Yarrow

  2. Step 2

    Compress

Prepare a compress by putting 5 drops of essential oil in a bowl of ice cold water. Stir the essential oils into the water. Saturate a clean cotton cloth with the water and essential oils. Ring out the excess water and apply the cool compress to the forehead.

  3. Step 3

    Bath

Run a bathtub full of water that is as cool as you can tolerate it. Drop 5 to 8 drops of essential oil in the water. Bath in the water until the fever begins to decline.

  4. Step 4

If you have or a family member have a high fever that is not responding well to treatment seek medical attention immediately.
