1
Go over the outside of the desk and remove everything--the stickers, gum, glue or anything that is not supposed to be there. You can use Goo Gone to remove the difficult items that have adhesive; it is a citrus-based product that has a greasy consistency and is sprayed on the target and removed with a soft cloth.

Start cleaning out the inside of the desk, and pile everything to the side. Empty out the desk completely of all debris. Clean all the rough items with the Goo Gone on the inside of the desk, and wipe it off until they are gone. Use anti-bacterial wipes to clean the rest of the inside of the desk, making sure to clean the corners, where dirt accumulates, and the edges where the desk meets the lid.

Determine what items you will keep and what items you will throw away. Create two different piles; keep in mind that anything you haven't used in a few weeks should be thrown out without hesitation. Keep pencils, pens, notebooks and anything that you will use in your daily activities.

Arrange your small storage boxes, and place them in the desk so they fit comfortably. Take them back out of the desk and fill them with the contents you will place back into the desk. Place the items in the storage boxes in uniformity--pens and pencils together, paperclips and staples together. Once you are finished cleaning and placing the items inside the desk, clean the top of the lid and underneath the lid.
