How to Conceive After Tubal Reversal
Tubal ligations are a means of permanent sterilization for most women, in which their fallopian tubes are tied. However, about 25 percent of women who believe they no longer want children, change their mind, thus requiring a tubal ligation reversal. 1
Lose weight. Excess body weight not only makes the tubal reversal surgery more difficult to perform, it can also make your chances of conceiving more difficult. In most cases, doctors will perform tubal reversals on women whose body mass index (BMI) is 35 and under. However, 25 is considered to be a healthy BMI, and the closer you are to it, the greater your chances of a successful reversal and conception afterward. Talk to your doctor about a healthy diet and exercise plan if you need to shed excess weight before surgery.

2
Quit smoking. Smoking not only poses health risks during your pregnancy, it can also damage your already damaged fallopian tubes both before and after your surgery. Although the doctor performing your surgery takes every precaution to ensure your tubes are in optimal condition for conception, the act of having them tied and the reversal themselves can cause scar and tissue damage; the substances in cigarette smoke may cause further damage and decrease your chances for conceiving.

3
Control your blood sugar. Diabetes is one of the most common conditions that may complicate your ability to conceive after a tubal reversal. Proper management of your blood sugar levels, however, may help decrease the risk of these complications.

4
Manage your thyroid condition. Thyroid disease is another common health condition that can interfere with your ability to conceive. Taking proper care of yourself and following your doctor's instructions regarding management of your condition can greatly increase your ability to conceive.

5
Monitor your ovulation. Another common problem for women who have undergone a tubal reversal is irregular ovulation; this means their eggs are not being released on a regular basis, which is an essential aspect of conception. The biggest indicator of an ovulation problem will be irregular or erratic periods. If this is a problem, speak to your doctor immediately so it can be solved. Unless you know when you are ovulating, you cannot time intercourse to conceive.

6
Use a prediction kit. Once your periods have regulated, begin using an ovulation prediction kit. It works like a pregnancy testing kit, except that it tests for the hormones released into your urine when ovulation is about to occur. This tells you that your chances for conception are optimal.
