How to Hold a Mary Kay Class
Mary Kay is a cosmetic company that distributes its products through a system of consultants and an online website. Classes are conducted by Mary Kay consultants in homes, offices or anywhere someone would like to hold a class. The purpose of the classes is to demonstrate the products in a casual setting, and provide the guests a first-hand experience with the products and learn about basic skincare. Anyone can hold a Mary Kay class and learn about the benefits of the product line.

1
Find an authorized Mary Kay consultant. Classes are conducted by authorized consultants who have the proper training and product selection. To find a consultant online, go to the official Mary Kay Cosmetics website. Click on the "In Person" icon under the "Welcome to All-About-You Shopping" section on the home page. Enter your zip code and it transfers you to the web page of the nearest Mary Kay consultant in the area. Consultants can also be found through co-workers, friends and families.
-
2
Schedule the Mary Kay class. A consultant can help you to determine a suitable date, and works with your schedule to ensure there is adequate time to promote the class. The consultant also advises you of the class format, new products and any incentives available for hosting a class.
The Mary Kay consultant will also provide a hostess kit with essential items to assist in promoting the class. Invitations, product samples, business cards and information on starting your own Mary Kay career are included.

3
Send out invitations to friends, family and co-workers two to three weeks prior to the class. This allows time for guests to confirm attendance and gives the hostess time to follow up with guests who have not confirmed their attendance. You can use the invitations provided by the Mary Kay consultant or choose your own method, such as email invitations.
Mary Kay classes are individualized and consultants work directly with each guest. No more than six guests should attend a class in order for each guest to have adequate time with the consultant.

4
Speak with the Mary Kay consultant 24 to 48 hours prior to the class. The consultant will discuss the class format and what she will need to properly showcase the products. The Mary Kay consultant will also need a list of guests and contact information. The consultant contacts the guests prior to the class to assess skincare concerns, allergies and the skincare products the guests are currently using.
-
5
Send a reminder about the Mary Kay class 48 to 72 hours prior to confirm attendance and remind those who have not responded. This will help the hostess to finalize seating arrangements and allow the consultant to prepare for the correct amount of guests.
-
6
On the day of the class, prepare the area where the class will be held. Have a large, clean table with chairs for each guest and a small table for the Mary Kay consultant to arrange product selections. The consultant will arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the class to set up and answer any last minute questions from the hostess.
-
7
Conduct the class. The Mary Kay consultant will begin with a Satin Hands hand treatment for each guest followed by an introduction to the product line, a facial for each guest, ending with an overview of cheek, lip and eye color options.
Product orders are placed at the end of the class and the hostess can earn incentives based on sales, and if a guest decides to host her own class.
-
8
Follow up with guests and thank them for attending. The Mary Kay consultant will also follow up with guests to assess their skin condition in the days following the class, and to answer questions about product orders.

Tips & Warnings
Offer light refreshments to your guests during the class. Send invitations three to four weeks in advance, if possible. The sooner that guests are aware of the class, the more likely they are to attend.
