How to Make a Simple Animal Costume
You do not have to spend a lot of money on store-bought costumes. Make an animal costume for a last-minute party in less than an hour. All you need is a black hooded sweatsuit, black socks and a few simple craft items. You do not even have to know how to sew to create this adorable cat costume that will stand out in the crowd.
Things You'll Need
- Black felt
- Scissors
- Black headband (optional)
- Fabric glue
- Black hooded sweatsuit
- Black faux fur
- Safety pin
- Two pairs black socks
- Black eyeliner pencil

Cut two triangles out of the black felt for the cat ears. Glue them to a plastic headband or directly to the hood of a hooded sweatshirt.

Cut a small oval out of faux fur for the belly, and glue it to the middle of the sweatshirt.

Cut two strips of faux fur to make cuffs. Use the cuffs on the hooded sweatshirt as a pattern for the width and length. Glue the fur cuffs to the sweatshirt.

Using the rest of the felt, cut it into a long tail and safety pin it to the seat of the sweatpants.

Put one pair of socks onto the hands and one pair on the feet. Use a black eyeliner pencil to draw on a nose and whiskers.

Tips & Warnings
You do not have to be a black cat. You can change up the colors of the sweatsuit and fabric. If you want to add stripes or dots to the costume, use a permanent marker and draw them on. Make a dog collar out of an old belt and accessorize your costume.
Make the tail shorter for small children, so they don't trip over it.
