How to Design Tile Flooring Online
You want new tile flooring in your kitchen. You have some ideas on what you want, but you are overwhelmed at your local home improvement center. Why not design your tile flooring at home online? Write down the dimensions of the room you want to tile and note any areas where tile will not be installed.

Visit http://www.ceramic-tile-floor.info/te/ntca/tileEstimatorNTCA.html to access the "Online Ceramic Tile Designer/Planner." Then click "Continue" to start the application.

Select which layout best represents the room you want to install tile flooring in --- rectangle, "L" shape or "T" shape.

Click "3. Angle Walls" if the walls in the room you are tiling is angled, otherwise, click "4. Tile Selector" to begin. Next, click "Thickness" and select how thick you want the tiles for the space --- choose from 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" or 1". Then choose "Grout Space" -- 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16" or 3/8".

Click "Pattern" and select which pattern you want for your floor tiles in: "Grid," "Diamond", "Brick", "Hopscotch", Stepping", "Divisible", "Corridor" or "Grid with Dot". Then click "Size" and select what size of tile you want: "4"x4", "6x6", "8x8", "12x12", "13x13," "16x16" or "18x18." Finally, click "Pattern" under the "Border Tile Area" heading to choose to have a border around your tile floor.

Click "5. Non Tile Areas" to set any areas that won't be tiled.

Click "6. YOUR REPORT" to see your tile design and get an estimate on how much tile and grout you will need for your tile project.
