How to Flush 1999 Econoline Engine Coolant Reservoir

The 1999 Ford Ecoline van uses a radiator and coolant to cool the engine. You should check and replace the coolant every 30,000 miles. To make sure that your system runs in top shape, consider flushing the coolant reservoir. This will clean out any debris in the system and keep it out of the engine cooling system.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Place a coolant catch pan underneath the coolant reservoir to catch engine coolant.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the hose clamp connected to the engine coolant reservoir tank.

  3. Step 3

    Pull the hose off the coolant reservoir and drain the coolant into the catch pan.

  4. Step 4

    Rinse the reservoir tank out with water. Make sure you remove any and all debris that may have accumulated in the system.

  5. Step 5

    Reconnect the hose to the reservoir and refill the reservoir tank with a mixture of 50 percent coolant and 50 percent water.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not fill the reservoir tank with less than 30 percent or more than 70 percent coolant.
