The Sims 2: Nightlife is the an add-on, usually referred to as an "expansion pack," to "The Sims 2." Nightlife adds environments, functionality and enhancements not found in the original game. As with all games that are frequently patched and allow user-created modifications, there is a chance you may run into some technical problems. Listed below are general troubleshooting tips which can be used to fix common problems that are usually software or hardware related.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Update your drivers. Video drivers can be found on the video card's manufacturer's website, such as Nvidia.com or AMD.com. Common problems such as tearing, video aliasing and other display issues can be resolved by verifying that you have the most current drivers available for your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU).

  2. Step 2

Uninstall virtual drives. This includes programs such as Alcohol, Nero, Virtual Drive and Daemon Tools. If you're having problems installing the game--outside of the physical drive itself--the issue can be caused by having virtual drives installed. Virtual drives often conflict with the copy protection software used in EA games.

  3. Step 3

Install core game to the C drive. As the default location of the game is ":C/Program Files/Sims 2 Nightlife", doing this helps prevent incompatibility when installing modifications and official patches, which also default to the C drive. If you have already experienced these incompatibility issues, try verifying that you have applied the mods or patch to the appropriate directory.
