How to Modify Aggressive Behavior in Dogs With a Clicker
Clicker training is when you use a small toy that makes a clicking sound combined with positive reinforcement to train your dog. Use the clicker, along with a special dog treat, to show the dog he has behaved correctly. For example, if you are training your dog to sit, press the clicker to show him he has accomplished the task. But don't use the clicker when you dog is behaving aggressively.

1
Purchase a clicker from your local pet supply store or online. Most clickers cost around $2, and it's beneficial to purchase one that has a key ring so you can attach it to your keys.
-
2
Prepare various treats before you begin clicker training. Know what kind of treats your dog likes since using a treat that isn't as enticing will only hinder the training. It's also a good idea to use a small amount of human food for your treat, such as a piece of a hot dog or leftover piece of steak (see References).

Grab your dog when he is showing signs of aggressive behavior and move into a room where there are no distractions. Have the treats in the room. Don't try to calm the dog if he's being aggressive. Instead, shout "No" until he starts calming down.
-
4
Press on the clicker when your dog shows signs of calming. Use a vocal cue as you press on the clicker -- say "Good" or "Yes." Give the dog the treat immediately after using the clicker. Repeat if the aggressive behavior begins again.

Continue using the click training method for three to five weeks. You should see a huge change in your dog's behavior as his aggressiveness declines. You also can use the clicker to teach your dog tricks, such as sitting down and staying in place.
