How to Make Miniature Wigs
Miniature wigs are a great doll accessory, whether you want to change your doll's hair or display wigs on stands as part of a doll house or other miniature display. With just some craft hair and liquid latex, you can make your own customized, functional miniature wigs that imitate the structure of a full-sized prosthetic hair piece.
Things You'll Need
- Liquid latex (available at costume supply stores)
- Disposable brushes or rags
- Doll head or wig form (see Step 1)
- Craft doll hair, natural hair, or angora goat hair
- Scissors

1
Find something to use as a doll wig form on which to spread. This can be anything as long as it's roughly head-shaped and made of a hard, smooth material. You can use your doll's head, if it's bare, a Ping-Pong ball, or a miniature doll house wig stand made from polymer clay. If you want your wig to be worn by a doll with existing hair, wrap this doll's head tightly in plastic wrap and use this as the form.

2
Spread a thick layer of liquid latex on the doll head form using your disposable brushes (do not use brushes as latex will ruin them). You can spread it in the right shape to form a wig (avoiding the face and conforming to the hairline), or you can carefully trim the latex after it dries.

3
Allow latex to dry and remove it from the wig form. It should be thick enough that it will mostly keep its shape when removed and be sturdy enough to reattach to the wig form. If not, add another layer of latex.
-
4
Prepare sections of hair for your wig. Form small amounts of hair into locks of the desired lengths. Err on the side of too long, since you can trim the hair after it's attached.
-
5
Dip the tip of each lock of hair into wet liquid latex and attach it to the dry latex on the wig form. Hold it in place until it sticks, then move on to the next lock. Position locks of hair as close together as possible.
-
6
Let the latex cure for at least 12 hours. Trim the hair into the desired style.
