How to Make Wine With King of the North Grapes
Making your own wine at home can save you money and produce some of the best alcohol you may have tasted in awhile. King of the North grapes are a hardy species of grape that is commonly known as a "table grape." They keep well and make good wine if you follow a simple, time-honored recipe. Things You'll Need
- Package of dry yeast
- Sugar
- 3 gallons of fresh King of the North grapes
- 3.5 qts. cold water
- Sterile milk jug
- Balloon
- Needle
- Coffee filters
- Clean wine bottles

Combine the water and grapes and bring to a solid boil. Allow to boil until about half the water has evaporated and the concoction has become mushy.

Mix the sugar, yeast and fruit mush in an pan and then transfer the mixture to the milk jug. Poke two or three small holes in the balloon and slide it over the mouth of the jug.

Set the jug in a cool, dry place and check on it every few days. The balloon will allow carbon dioxide out of the small pinprick holes but keep air from going in.

Watch for the balloon to remain the same size for several days, after about six weeks. Once it does, uncap the jug. Pour the contents of the jug through the coffee filters into the clean wine bottles and then securely cork the bottles. The filters will clear out any mush left over in the jug and produce a pure, clean wine.

Tips & Warnings
Do not cap the jug with a solid cap, as carbon dioxide could cause the jug to explode.
