How to Cleanse & Detoxify the Lymph System

Your lymph system carries a pale fluid, lymph, that transports cell wastes and debris that accumulate in your cells. However, the lymph system can become clogged with toxins and affect your immune system. When that happens, the lymph glands, nodes where lymph collects and is filtered, swell and become painful and harm your immune system. Cleansing and clearing the lymphatic system can reduce the harm. You may want to go to a doctor if you are feeling very poorly, but there are many things you can do yourself to keep your lymph system healthy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Breath deeply. This can be achieved by exercise, singing, chanting and even by laughing.

  2. Step 2

Drink plenty of purified water, at least eight glasses a day, and drink herbal teas, which support the liver. Types of herbal teas that help cleanse the lymph system include dandelion, licorice, ginger and fennel.

  3. Step 3

Sweat. Sauna baths, infrared saunas, steam rooms and exercising are all good ways to remove toxins from the skin.

  4. Step 4

Take a detoxification bath. Use 1/2 cup of baking soda, Epsom salt, or sea salt in a bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Then scrub your skin with soap on a natural fiber such as a luffa. You will see the water become murky and dirty looking. The darkness in the water is aluminum and mercury coming out of your system.

  5. Step 5

Bounce on a small trampoline or while sitting on an exercise ball. Rebounding flushes the lymph by encouraging arterial blood to enter the capillaries to furnish the cells with fresh lymphatic fluid.

Tips & Warnings
  • If detoxing is done too rapidly, a condition called the Herxheimer reaction may occur. This can cause you to experience headaches, nausea and makes you feel bad all over. This reaction happens when the body releases toxins faster than they can be eliminated through the lymphatic system. So detox slowly, drink plenty of water and exercise daily.
