These are tough economic times and you may be wondering how to make extra money for your family. Here are some suggestions.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sales Licence if you sell things
  1. Step 1

    Flea Market Vendor:

This is pretty great because all you need is a sales license, a table, chair, someplace for change and cash and something to sell. You can sell things out of your house, clothes you don't need, nick nacks, all that extra stuff in storage. Costs between $15.00 and $30.00 for a space at the market.

You can also sell fruits and vegetables from your garden, wood crafts, crafts in general, old furniture, canned good, baked goods and home made candies. Some will let you sell fresh sandwiches, hotdogs, popcorn, sodas, etc... Check with you're local flea market.

  2. Step 2

Sell Fruits and Vegetables from your garden. These can be sold at your local farmer's market, flea market, a roadside stand, or if you have a large garden and greenhouse to local organic market, restaurants or individuals.

  3. Step 3

Raise house plants. Sell them at flea markets, roadside stand or at the local farmer's market. You can even contract with local businesses, (real estate, doctors, attorneys, banks), to provide plants, care for them and switch them out if they get ill.

  4. Step 4

Window Washing. Go door to door and wash business and residential windows. Many people will pay to have their windows washed as well as professional offices and businesses.

  5. Step 5

Storage area clean out and removal: Contact your local storage company and offer to clear out units that are delinquent. Not only can you get paid, but often you can have what is abandoned. You can sell those items at garage sales, flea markets or second hand shops. Any antiques or specialty items you can sell on EBay.

  6. Step 6

EBay auctions. If you have a computer online, put it to use. Easy to do with no money up front. You will need a digital camera. List and sell almost anything.

  7. Step 7

Seasonal Crafts: Create unique gifts and decorations for Halloween and Christmas. Sell these at craft fairs and flea markets.

  8. Step 8

Set up a concession stand for weekend flea markets, fairs and events. Hot dogs, sodas, balloons, pretzels, cotton candy, carmel corn, flags or novelties.

  9. Step 9

Personnel Services. These companies offer day labor and temporary employment as demonstrators at grocery stories, secretaries, for clean up crews for sports events, moving, and construction jobs. Work a couple of hours, a day, a week or a month. Annual inventories, business moving, clean ups and short term work. Pays minimum wage or a little more depending on your skills and abilities. You will be required to give proof of citizenship and take an aptitude test.

  10. Step 10

I hope these give you some ideas for part time employment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check with flea markets, farmer's markets, personnel agencies and auction services about their rules, requirements and restrictions.
  • Be imaginative, try different things
  • Be positive, keep on a budget, start small and dream big.
  • Don't invest more than your budget allows, this is to add to your income not put you in debt.
