When planning a fundraiser donations are very important. Knowing how to write a donation letter that motivates the potential donor is essential. Be sure to put thought into the message you are sending. Being detailed and sincere is the key to success in donation letters.

  1. Step 1

    Use your company letterhead. This makes your request more professional and donors are more likely to take your request seriously.

  2. Step 2

    Personalize your request. Send it to a specific person. Find out the name of the person making donation decisions and address it to them.

  3. Step 3

    Make the purpose of your fundraiser clear. The bulk of your request should detail the reason you are seeking donations. Give details on your cause, how the donation will benefit that cause and your theme and goals for the fundraiser.

  4. Step 4

    Create a convincing message. Give some statistics that show the success of your charity. Tell the donor how much your appreciate their support and how it will benefit them to be a part of your event.

  5. Step 5

    Close with a sincere thank you. Tell the potential donor that you appreciate their time and support.
