Things You'll Need:
- piano
- children
-
Step 1
Make a practice chart for each child and put it in a conspicuous spot, such as the refrigerator or on the wall next to the piano.
Make a row for each day of the week.
Decorate it with stickers, crayon or marker designs, anything your child wants.
Get an assortment of stickers and place one on the chart for each day of practicing. -
Step 2
Schedule a concert once a week where each child performs their assigned lesson. Make it formal; print programs with the child's name as the featured artist and list the pieces. Let the child color and decorate it as they wish. Allow the children to dress up. If you have more than one child, one who isn't performing can act as the usher and host. Parents and other family members sit and listen to the performance, and clap loudly and enthusiastically after each piece. Teach your child how to bow appropriately (or ask your piano teacher if you don't know how) after each piece.
-
Step 3
After the concert, have a fancy dinner using your nice china and cloth napkins. Follow up with a fun activity, such as a board game or a movie, or baking cookies.
-
Step 4
Set up a blog and document your child's performances. Upload videos or photos of the concert. Record the pieces played. Your children will love looking back at how they have improved over time.
