Kidney stones are extremely painful, yet relatively easy to prevent. There are several types of stones and this "treatment" will only prevent calcium oxalate stones, but these are the most common. The trick is to prevent the calcium in your body from crystalizing.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vitamin B6
  • Magnesium tablets
  • Water
  1. Step 1

You will need to take these two tablets daily - a good B vitamin supplement that contains vitamin B6, and a simple Magnesium supplement of at least 350 mg. I take a Magnesium supplement twice a day. I have had 10 kidney stones previous to this treatment and now I am stone free.

  2. Step 2

Drink lots of water daily. I recommend filtered water like the Brita pitchers with disposable filters. Change the filter every 3 months with the season change.

  3. Step 3

There is no need to avoid foods high in calcium while taking these supplements. Urologists will tell you to do that. It is more important to avoid foods high in Phosphorus which seems to encourage calcium to crystalize.

Tips & Warnings
  • The magnesium works synergistically with calcium and phosphorus to prevent crystal formation.
  • You will have to continue these supplements for life if you are a stone former.
  • Avoid products containing high amounts of phosphorus as our processed foods contain way too much of this.
  • Do not avoid products with high amounts of calcium as calcium is good for your bones.
  • Some Urologists will tell you that this treatment does not work. Trust me, they tell you that because they have no interest in preventing your stones because they make a good living treating people with this painful affliction.
  • Lithotripsy as a treatment for stones is probably more painful than the stone itself to some people. Prevention of stones is best.
