Each of Canada's 13 provinces has its own rules concerning adoption. Adoptees searching for a birth father in Canada will discover that within each Canadian province, various laws govern adoption disclosure. Some provinces have open records while others have sealed records that are opened only by consent. Even if an adoptee is faced with the hurdle of not being able to access identifying information from the government, there are other avenues toward finding a birth father.
