Instructions

    • 1

Allow the wax to dry completely. Place the piece of clothing in the freezer for about 30 minutes, until the wax hardens. This will make it easier to remove all of the wax.

    • 2

Scrape away as much of the wax as you can with a butter knife or other dull knife. If the wax starts to melt and soften while you are scraping it off, put it back in the freezer to harden, and then continue scraping.

    • 3

Place a large piece of brown paper bag or brown packaging paper on the ironing board. Put the clothing on the ironing board with the wax facing up. Put another piece of brown paper over the wax. Cover the top piece of brown paper with a dish towel.

    • 4

Set the iron at the highest temperature appropriate for the fabric. Do not use a steam setting. Iron the area affected by the wax through the dish towel and brown paper. The towel will keep the paper from burning. The heat from the iron will melt the wax and the brown paper will absorb it.

    • 5

Boil water in a small saucepan or teapot. Set the clothing in the sink with any remaining wax facing the sink. Pour the boiling water through the clothing to melt and remove any wax remnants.

    • 6

Wash the item in the washing machine on the warmest setting appropriate for the fabric.

    • 7

Check the clothing to make sure all the wax is gone before placing the item in the dryer. If there is any wax left, repeat the ironing and rinsing steps until all the wax has been removed.
