Things You'll Need:
- 1 pkg of Agar Agar flakes
- Juice
- Pot and Stovetop
- Glass bowl or other container
-
Step 1
Buy a package agar agar flakes at your nearest grocery store. You will most likely find them in the Asian foods section.
-
Step 2
You will also need fruit juice, but you can choose any fruit juice you like depending on your taste preference (and color preference, if you are entertaining!) Be sure to buy 100% juice that is not from concentrate so you don't have the added sugars!
-
Step 3
The proportions you will use are 1 tablespoon of Agar Agar flakes for 1 cup of juice. This may be considered 1 serving. So if you want to serve 4 people, use 4 tablespoons of Agar Agar flakes and 4 cups of juice.
-
Step 4
Pour the juice in a pot over the stove over high heat and slowly start adding the agar agar flakes. You will bring this to a boil.
-
Step 5
Lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly until flakes are dissolved.
-
Step 6
While still hot, pour the liquid into a glass bowl or another decorative mold of your choice for it to set. Unlike conventional gelatin, it does not need to be refrigerated in order to solidify.
-
Step 7
After sitting out for about an hour, you will have your jello!
