Excess body weight and the sudden presence of cellulite may or may not be related to fat. Water retention or water weight plays a role in both; and losing pounds often involves flushing extra water from your body.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take calcium. Bloating and water weight are common during a female's menstrual cycle. Take 1,000 milligrams of calcium a day to reduce bloating and decrease the likelihood of fluid retention.

  2. Step 2

Watch your carbs. Consider a low-carb diet to combat fluid retention and flush extra water from your body.

  3. Step 3

Consume water. Remove sodium and water from your body by drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.

  4. Step 4

Lose water through exercise. Sweating through vigorous exercise helps your body lose excess water. Exercise three times a week for 30 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Reduce sodium to stop fluid retention. Choose salt-free seasonings and low sodium foods and condiments to fight water weight. Consume no more than 2,400 mg of sodium a day.
