Step 1
Determine your needs.
Office chair needs can include not only desk chairs, but reception chairs, side chairs, conference chairs, and even chairs to equip an employee lunch room. Make a list of all your used office chair needs and don't overlook any categories.
It might even be a good idea to poll your employees to see what their needs are. They may have some suggestions or ideas that you hadn't considered. -
Step 2
Create a budget.
Based on the number and type of chairs you need and the kind of funds you have, create a budget to cover your office furniture needs. Break it down by total budget amount and per chair amount, but resist the urge to simply divide your total budget amount by the number of chairs to arrive at a per chair budget. You will want to put the most money into the chairs that your employees sit in all day, every day to do their work. Reception and guest chairs that are only used for short periods of time should be budgeted at a lower amount. -
Step 3
Make a list of places to do your shopping.
You can buy used office chairs at a variety of places, including local office furniture dealers and through online sources. eBay and Craigslist are great places to seek out used office chairs and you may have luck unloading any office furniture you are replacing there as well.
