Check the bus interface on the card. The best graphics cards will have PCI Express for their bus interface. This is top of the line. If the bus interface is not listed on the box, ask a store clerk for help.

Evaluate the amount of video memory available on the card. The more video memory, the better. Don't overspend just for extra video memory, however.

Look at the pixel pipeline of the graphics card you intend to buy. This will help determine how sharp the computer image you ultimately get will be. Like video memory, too many pixel pipelines is overkill.

Do not overspend. You can find a good graphics card within your budget. Never let a store clerk talk you into a graphics card that you cannot afford.
