Colon cleansers are any techniques or substances that help clean out your colon.
Don't be fooled. That definition makes colon cleansers seem simple. But actually, there are so many different types of colon cleansers available to you that it may be difficult and confusing to choose between them.

      Colon cleansers can be mechanical techniques that remove harmful substances, parasites, and built-up hardened feces from your colon. Examples of these include enemas and colonics.

      Colonics are also known as "colon irrigation" and "colon hydrotherapy." Colon irrigation is similar to an enema in that you introduce water into your colon and later release it. But colon irrigation usually means that the water is allowed to flow into and out of your colon continuously. It's generally much more extensive that a "hold and release" colonics session. It also involves much more water and gives your colon a much deeper cleaning.

      Enemas typically clean out only the bottom 10 inches or so of your colon. Colonics are more effective colon cleansers because they attempt to clean the ENTIRE colon. This is an important distinction.

      Many people mix salt, lemonade, vinegar, teas, herbs, and other things in with their enema or colonic water. These mixtures can be more effective colon cleansers that water alone.

      You can try this, but be careful never to put chemicals or other cleaners in your colon cleansing liquid. Because your body absorbs substances through the lining of your colon, using chemicals as colon cleansers wouldn't be any safer than drinking those substances. The general rule is that if you wouldn't drink it or eat it, you shouldn't use it as a colon cleanser.
