Things You'll Need:
- one nicely sized spaghetti squash. Preferably home grown (I mean seriously folks, who doesn't love good home grown vegetables!
-
Step 1
Crack a bottle of nice Chardonnay. Take your spaghetti squash and pierce the living crap out of it with a fork. Pour about a cup of the Chardonnay into a glass, sip.
-
Step 2
Place squash (not the Chardonnay) in a baking dish with a quarter cup of water in the bottom. Sip Chardonnay.
-
Step 3
Place baking dish (with spaghetti squash in it of course) into the microwave and zap for about 10 minutes. During this ten minutes light some candles and drink half the glass of Chardonnay... slowly of course.
-
Step 4
Remove the baking dish from the microwave. Grab some hot pads, place on your hands... because this squash is going to be HOT... and I mean ooch ouch ooch hot! Remove squash from dish and place on cutting board. Sip Chardonnay.
-
Step 5
While wearing hot pads on hands, cut squash in half lengthwise. Remove seeds with a spoon and discard. THEN while still wearing hot pads, grab a fork and begin scraping the guts of the squash into a baking dish. The flesh should begin scraping out like strings of spaghetti (I know, who'd a thunk it?) sip Chardonnay while making a toast to such a brilliant squash!
-
Step 6
Now that your "spaghetti" is in your baking dish, sprinkle generous portions of Parmesan Cheese (Romano and Asiago Parmesan works beautifully but regular Parmesan works fine too.) Add about two tablespoons of butter and stir together. Place back in microwave for about 5 minutes. Remove from microwave, pour another glass of Chardonnay, serve spaghetti squash and ENJOY!

on 10/3/2009 Nice article, but why not put the Chardonnay in with the Squash. BTW, Squash is not a Vegetable, it is a Fruit. That is what a Scientist would say anyway.
