Here is a quick and easy recipe for sweet & sour meatballs that everyone will love! These meatballs can be used as an appetizer or hors d'oeuvre, or as a main meal. They are delicious over rice, egg noodles--even spaghetti. This recipe can easily be made ahead of time, and refrigerated or frozen for future use. I have served these meatballs at parties, potlucks, and even to kids--and have always gotten rave reviews! Bon apetit!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
  • 8 oz. grape jelly
  • 6 oz chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • dash of Worcestershire sauce (if desired)
  1. Step 1

In a large pot, combine grape jelly, chili sauce, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce (if desired). Heat sauce over LOW heat/flame, stirring occasionally to make sure jelly is dissolving and sauce is not burning. When the ingredients have combined, go to Step 2.

  2. Step 2

Roll ground beef or turkey into small balls (smaller than a peach, bigger than a cherry), and, as you roll each ball, drop it into the sauce which is simmering on the stove. Continue until all balls are in sauce.

  3. Step 3

Let the meatballs simmer until they are brown, approximately 1-1/2 hours. Stir gently from time to time.

  4. Step 4

Remove from heat and serve, or let cool and refrigerate/freeze for future use.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can substitute any jelly (without fruit pieces) for the grape jelly to subtly change the flavor.
  • For a tangier taste, try jellied cranberry sauce!
  • This recipe is easy to double or triple--just simply double or triple the amount of sauce ingredients.
