how to make octopus salad

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • octopus arms- 1 can or 1 arm
  • red and green peppers( 1 1/2 tblsp each)
  • red onion - small
  • spanish olives - six
  • olive oil- 2 tablespoons
  • bay leaf - 1
  • red wine vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  1. Step 1

If you are a seafood lover you will enjoy eating this exotic dish. I suggest making this recipe single sized for the first time. Then if you like it, up the ingredients. Therefore you will not waste time and money.

  2. Step 2

Buy a few arms ( or one depending on the size ) of the octopus. If you are making a single serving then one arm should be sufficient. Octopus is not sold at every store therefore you may want to visit stores that sell only seafood. Most Chinese stores have a seafood department and manage to keep an abundance of species of seafood.

  3. Step 3

If you are not able to locate such stores than visit your grocers. Most grocers sell canned octopus in their sardine and tuna section. Buy the octopus in the can with olive oil (one can).

  4. Step 4

If you are using fresh octopus cut the arms in nail sized pieces. Rinse the octopus. If you are using canned octopus remove the octopus from the can. Put the octopus in a small strainer. Rinse off the oil which it came in. You can leave the suctions on the octopus (small bumpy skin found on the arms) although I remove them.

  5. Step 5

Rinse the peppers and dry well using paper towel. Dice the peppers and the red onion. Use as many as the Spanish olives according to your like. I use about six depending on their size.

  6. Step 6

Put the octopus into a bowl add all of the ingredients along with the bay leaf and stir lightly. Chill for an hour. Serve and enjoy
