How to Add A TV Coax Cable In Your Home

Adding a TV coaxial cable to your home lets you view subscription cable services on television in a different room from the current connection. The addition requires a cable splitter available at electronics stores. This device separates the coaxial signal from the main line into two cable signals for hooking up TV sets in different rooms. Buy a cable splitter at electronics and stereo stores, as well as a second coaxial cable equipped with rotating connectors on the ends.

Things You'll Need

• Cable splitter
• Coaxial cable

Instructions

1. Turn off the power to the existing cable box and any connected TV.

2. Unscrew the current coaxial cable from the back of the cable box.

3. Attach the end of the cable to one of the outputs on the coaxial splitter. The threaded jacks are labeled output on some splitters, while other models are printed with arrows facing outward from the jacks to show the signal direction.

4. Connect another coaxial cable from the splitter's second output to the matching jack on the back of a second TV set.

5. Attach one end of the remaining coaxial cable to the cable box and fasten the other end to the input on the splitter.
