Prep your concrete floor or surface for staining. Scrub down the entire area with soap and water to eliminate all dirt and debris. This would be a good time to patch any holes as well if need be. I use just a coarse nylon brush that fits onto the end of a broom handle. After all of the water has dried, run your hand across the surface of the cement to make sure there is no left behind dirt.

Apply your concrete stain. Now you can either use a brush, cloth, roller, or sprayer to apply the stain. I recommend using a garden sprayer or large roller for larger areas. Make sure you have applied the stain evenly and there are no pools on the surface.

After the stain has dried, seal the stain with the correct concrete sealer. Now which type of sealer you need depends on the type of stain you used. Read the label on the back of the stain for the recommend sealer. Sealing your stain is an extremely important step which should not be left out.
