I am extremely picky about my pie crust. I cannot stand dry or doughy crust. This recipe will give you a pie crust that is tender, flacky and will melt in your mouth. I named it Never Fail for a reason.

Enjoy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 Shortening (a must)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 5 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp White Vinegar
  • 1 Egg
  1. Step 1
    Cutting in Shortening
    Cutting in Shortening

Cut flour and shortening together. Do Not replace the shortening. It is essential in making this crust. Cut until completely mixed together.

  2. Step 2

Add in remaining ingredients. Mix thoroughly.

  3. Step 3
    Knead and Roll
    Knead and Roll

Knead dough with your hands a few times. It will be pliable, but do not over knead.

Roll out dough for pie crust. Place in pie pan. Cut dough around pie pan edge to size.

  4. Step 4

Depending on your pie recipe, you will either fill with pie filling or bake for a couple of minutes empty.

    * For Chocolate Cream pie - fill and then bake.
    * For Apple Pie - Fill and then bake.
    * For Blackberry Pie - Bake about 8 minutes at 350 first.
    * For variations sprinkle pie crust (before cooking) with: cinnamon or nutmeg.
