Tile is a common feature in most households nowadays. Although most useful in bathrooms and kitchens for its waterproof qualities, some types of tile are beautiful enough for decorative accent in household floors and walls. When tile displays its wear and tear, then it becomes necessary to know how to repair grout tile. Here it is explained simply:

  1. Step 1

    Remove cracked or peeling grout with a grout saw. Cracking or peeling is the common reason for repairing tile grout. For the new batch of grout, you must pay attention to the mixture; excessive water will cause further cracking.

  2. Step 2

    Clean the area before applying new grout. Debris, dirt, and mildew; all must be completely removed. Keep the surface clean and applying grout will not be a problem.

  3. Step 3

    Grout can be bought in powder form. It has to be mixed with just the right amount of water for that pasty, spreadable consistency. Mix only what you need when doing these steps on how to repair grout tile.

  4. Step 4

    Apply with a special grout trowel. This is sometimes called a rubber float. Spreading the mixture over the area of tile to be repaired should not be a problem. Press firmly and fill up the joints.
