Step 1
Remove cracked or peeling grout with a grout saw. Cracking or peeling is the common reason for repairing tile grout. For the new batch of grout, you must pay attention to the mixture; excessive water will cause further cracking.
-
Step 2
Clean the area before applying new grout. Debris, dirt, and mildew; all must be completely removed. Keep the surface clean and applying grout will not be a problem.
-
Step 3
Grout can be bought in powder form. It has to be mixed with just the right amount of water for that pasty, spreadable consistency. Mix only what you need when doing these steps on how to repair grout tile.
-
Step 4
Apply with a special grout trowel. This is sometimes called a rubber float. Spreading the mixture over the area of tile to be repaired should not be a problem. Press firmly and fill up the joints.
-
Step 5
Take off any excess grout and smoothen the joints between the tiles. You can use a screwdriver or any rounded stick. Do this finishing task carefully and slowly, so as not to disturb the packed up grout inside the joints.
-
Step 6
Wait until the new grout has set into its new joints. When it is possible to wipe off the surrounding tile without disturbing those inside the joints, then do so. A damp grout sponge will do the job.
-
Step 7
Dab, wipe, sponge, and shape the new tile grout. Add more grout as needed. Do not overdo.
-
Step 8
Make a final wiping on the tiles, and you are done.
